She Insisted!!!

I don't seem to get as many LO's done for The Color Room as I should these days!  I know I should, but there is always something that kind of makes it difficult.  I could actually insert the name of Ashton, to replace the word something in the previous sentence! LOL!  This week I have been waiting on product to come through for some deadlines for Aussie Scrap Source and some product from Prima, soooooo, that freed up my week to create a LO for the Color Room!  Plus I adored this palette!

 As you can see it really was a delectibile palette!  I create the background using one of Prima's Masks and spritzed it with a combination of of a yellow and pale pink Chalkboard Glimmermist by Tattered Angels.  Once that was dry, I used a blue Distress ink and Prima text stamp, to randomly stamp some text across the background of my LO.  It is quite subtle, but it is there!

The decorative half circle elements were cut using a cricut machine - the damasks cartridge, compliments of my friend Lorraine, since I don't have a cricut machine.  In fact it was my eldest son Lachlan who LOVED cutting things using the machine, he stationed himself at it and worked out how to use it and then cut lots of these gorgeous damask circles in different sizes for me, seeing how many he could cut to one sheet of white cardstock!  

Tags have been customised using a Prima stamp, some versa mark pigment ink in yellow and then heat embossed with clear embossing powder, for a wonderful pop of colour and texture.    The only other thing I did was to print off a couple of digital stamps onto transparency to use on this LO as well. So now you pretty much know the anatomy of this LO!!

Now.....You know it has been a while since you have taken some photographs when your daughter comes out asking "Mummy can you take some photos of me?"  Seriously, how could I resist such a request!!  Besides I was feeling like some new pictures to inspire me!!  

Honestly I kind of gasped out loud when I saw this picture of Kaitlyn!!  Firslty, how did she grow up so fast (but having said that, she has not yet turned 4).  Second, how on earth did she end up so insanely gorgeous?  She is like a little tyke supermodel! LOL.  Well in my Mummy opinion she is stunningly beautiful.

As you can see I have a LOT of beautiful pictures of my little girl to choose from!!  I edited them in both colour and black and white, but the colour version is so rich with colour, I think i like those versions the most.

Dont worry, Kaitlyn was not the only child who had a couple of photos taken, the little rascal came out to get in on the action!!

Like I said, he is a bit of a rascal!!

Don't be fooled by the serene look on his face here, I am sure he is cultivating some sort of mischief in his mind!  People comment to me how cute he is and I have a standard response, "cute to look at, difficult to raise"!! LOL!  Sums him up oh so well.  Please note the clever cropping of these images hides his moth eaten hair!  I need to give him a hair cut this week to lessen the visibility of his patchiness on his hair! LOL!

I took several more pictures the day before I took these ones, some gorgeous sequence shots of Kaitlyn blowing away the fluffy blooms that a dandelion flower leaves behind after it has finished flowering. Creating, Play-dough & Moth Eaten Hair!!

My nights have been filled with scrapping of late! I am not good at scrapbooking at night these days, feel a little bit brain dead, but between working, and looking after the kids there just isn't any time during the day for me to be able to spend un-interrupted time scrapbooking as Kaitlyn no longer has a daytime sleep, so there is NEVER any time during the day which is child free.  Before I went back to work, I used to put the kids in childcare, one day a week and spend that day scrapbooking, it was bliss and really allowed some uninterrupted creative time.  I sooooo miss those days, but the budget just cant afford to put the kids in childcare one more day a week as they have to be in there when I am working.  Sigh!!!  So what have I created in the evenings of late!

This LO was one of the last ones that I created while on the Prima DT for their Prima Palette challenge. There is a lot of stamping and details on this, including about 10 different layers of paper!  

The swirls on this were created from cutting a design from a cricut cartridge, then I stamped with a Prima stamp and stazon ink, followed by a coat of orange distress ink.  Just a fun way to customise some plain cardstock.

I created this LO for Aussie Scrap Source.  I shared the pictures of Kaitlyn reading to "Charlie Bear" previously here.  Just love the sequence of pictures, she was just so adorable that day!

For the record, I made a bad batch of play dough today!!  I am usually very adept at this task!!  Lets face it, I have made a LOT of this stuff over the years!  Today, was not one of my highlights!  You see, the play dough was gooey, soft but a little gooey, wants to stay stuck to your fingers!  The tiddley peeps still think it is the beez knees, but I am far more critical of its consistency.  More chance of this one ending up stuck to their clothes and transferred throughout the house!  Yes, that is the crucial point in all of this, my displeasure with the playdough is intertwined with the prospect of more work for me in the clean up department.  On the upside, I have bought myself 15 minutes of quiet time without toddlers underfoot!!  Priceless!!

OK it didn't distract one of them quite long enough as right now the silent destroyer has taken up residence under my computer desk, quite literally at my feet, getting into goodness knows what in the cupboard under there!!  Well, now you have such an insightful look into the mundane aspects of my life!!  LOL!

Talking of these two tiddley peeps, you know you are in trouble when kids are quiet, too quiet, always spells disaster!  I had to go out and run an errand and when I came home DH asked me if I noticed anything different about Ashton.  I quickly looked at him, nope, no big texta marks over his face (that was what I was expecting too see) but something looked a little odd but I couldn't put my finger on it straight away, then it dawned on me his hair looked a little odd.  Then I looked closer!!

 

My friend Hilary gave it a very apt description when she said "He looks moth eaten"!!  Well the only moth eating at him was his big sister with a pair of scissors!  I have no idea how she got the scissors as I store them way up high, out of reach!  Hairdressing does not look like one of her strong points at this stage!

Lachlan has had exams last week.  He feels pretty confident that he has gone well in them, so lets see what his report card brings at the end of the month!  I also lodged his passport application this week (the quick errand I had to run when the previous mentioned scissor incident occurred) so he is very excited at the thought of his impending cruise!!

Teaching in Brisbane

This week marks the end of my term as a DT member with Prima.  It has been the most wonderful 2.5 years on their DT and I have met some of the most wonderful ladies along the way.  I have made some really good friends with fellow DT girls over the last 2.5 years and am so greatful for those opportunities. To the amazingly talented new team of girls, congratulations and I am sure it will be a fabulous year for all of you!  But for me, as one chapter ends, another begins with the Prima Education Team!  

I got a call from Sherry last week asking if I would be interested in teaching in Brisbane in September!  Of course I jumped on the idea, but had to create a sample and work out some logistics very quickly so they could start to advertise the event.  Fabulously talented fellow Prima Educator, Louise Williams and the wonderful Jane Clark (a fellow Aussie Scrap Source DT member) will also be teaching there.  If you want to find out more about the event just go to Australian Papercrafts Festival and check it out.  If you are interested in the classes you can contact Sherry and book into them, her contact details are on the link as are the dates and times of the classes!   The project I will be teaching is very feminine, multi layered and full of fabulous techniques.  Here is a sneak peek!

This week also marks the end of a massive bookwork job that I have been fighting my way through since December last year!!  The relief to know it is now finished and we are totally up to date once more is immense.  I even had a little happy dance when I finished!!

I have had a LO go up over on the Aussie Scrap Source Blog this week.  I finished this one off ages ago. I really enjoyed creating this LO.  There is something theraputic about delving into lots of art mediums and just creating.  As I usually design everything before sticking it down, this sort of technique challenges me as it is more suited to a stick as you go way of creating, but it was still heaps of fun.  Obviously inspired by the talented Finnabair and her steampunk style!

See I do some boy pages from time to time of my elder children!!!  I actually have quite a few really nice pictures of them that I need to scrap! LOL!  Maybe it is telling me to go back and do some more of the older ones and try this sort of technique again.....I may even have an idea brewing in my brain for a design!  Now to find the time!

Houston, we have a problem in our house!!!!  It would seem that little Mr Ashton has worked out not only how to remove his pants by himself, but also his nappy!!  Every day without fail he will take his pants and nappy off the moment he does a wee in them or any other undesirable waste product!!  I swear this is doing my head in!  I will be busy doing stuff, turn around and find a naked bummed boy running around the house and I just cross my fingers and hope like crazy it is just a wet one he removed!  He just doesn't care if I tell him off, he thinks it is hilarious!  Quite often he will even bring me a replacement nappy to put on his butt and giggles like crazy while I put the new one on him.  I have even tried putting a pair of Kaitlyns nickers over the top of his nappy but he has worked out how to remove that as well!  He is not even 2 yet! I shake my head in frustration and dispair!
