This week I was reminded how important it is to make time for the ones you love! My Nanna moved back to Adelaide close to a year ago and I have been picking her up just about every Thursday and having her with me at home during school hours. It brings her so much joy to spend time with Ethan, Kaitlyn and myself.
Usually I work my day so that I can just be in the kitchen cooking while she sits at the table chatting to me and cuddling Kaitlyn. She keeps wanting to help me but I tell her the best help is to chat to me! LOL!! Kaitlyn has been crawling up into her lap lately and giving her heaps of cuddles and this has been so precious to Nanna. She is 90, so she is no spring chicken, but she still lives on her own and I have become so close to her over the past 12 months. I spend more time with her than any other relative (excluding my immediate family that I live with) and we have become very close.
On Tuesday, Nanna was bringing her budgie inside and tripped on uneven concrete outside her unit! She fell face first into the birdcage. As she is on blood thinning medication she began bleeding profusely. Luckily a neighbour heard her cries of distress and called an ambulance. Nanna was also able to activate her alert pendant as well. She lost a huge amount of blood and stopped breathing 2x at the hospital. She had broken her nose and had to be put on a ventilator due to her stopping breathing. What would be just a nasty fall for anyone younger can be life threatening for someone in their 90's. The scariest thing was when my Auntie was asked what her wishes were regarding resusitation!
All I could think of was that I wasn't ready for anything to happen to my Nanna! She HAD to be around longer, as Kaitlyn had so much more cuddling to give her and I had so many more hours of chatting on a Thursday to look forward to. It was just so upsetting and although I knew that I have done so much to bring her happiness just by bringing her over to my home each week, it just didn't seem enough! Things like this really make you realise just how important time with each other is. Thankfully she has begun to recover, mind you she has the blackest of eyes and is incredibly swolen, but she is conscious and talking to us. She is still in ICU but I am just greatful that she is OK.
In other news, Miss K has cut 2 dirty great big molars thi month! We have had a bit of a cranky baby, but that is to be expected! She said Ï love you"to me on Sunday, quite clearly and my parents were over to witness it!! She has said it a few times, or it sounded like it to me, but this was quite clear and I had witnesses! She has also taken to nodding or shaking her head to questions, which is just adorable! I am pretty sure she has detected the sound difference you make when you pose a question as she only does it when you ask a question. Sooooo cute.
In scrapping news.... After seeing the sneak peek on Kates blog of her mini album she is teaching at Whalers, I felt inspired to use napkins in a way that was like using rubons. Just loved the look of this. I also sprayed a couple of doilies with glimmermist for this LO as well. How fresh is this colour scheme!
TFL!
Glad your Nanna is OK, even though she gave you a huge scare!!

Janine, so sad to hear about your Nanna. I hope your OK hon. Sorry I was so insensitive not to ask today how she was.
Anyhow, thinking of you and her and I know she is one the road to recovery and lots of cuddles from Miss K.

Your LO's are gorgeous as anything, but so sad to hear about your grandma. I totally understand you on the time factor. Enjoy every minute you have with her. x
