There is a saying that goes something like this.... Cheer up, things could get worse, so I cheered up and sure enough, things got worse! Dont you just love that little pearler of negativity!! Well, I find it rather amusing! It seems to sum up my day though!! You see, I am a girl that requires a certain amount of sleep to function well. Not huge amounts but I deal with life and it's challenges with greater ease when I have had a minimum of 6-7 hours of sleep a night. See I have realistic expectations! I am not asking for 10-12 hours a night, the bar is not set that high, but if it elludes me, my sense of humour follows!!
Remember that inconsistent baby I have..... the deceptively cute one that has the annoying trait of being a temperamental sleeper. Well, he struck again last night! I crawled into bed and 20 minutes later he is crying out, I settle him and go back to bed. Fast forward less than 3 hours later, to 3am, he is awake again, that is fine, he wakes most nights around this time. I feed him, put him back down and then lie in bed listening out, hoping he will go back to sleep until morning. Well he went back to sleep, for a bit over an hour and then is making noises, not screaming, just cring out every now and again and talking to himself. I hope he will go back to sleep, but no, an hour later the cooing is now screaming so up I get and feed him, but he doesnt go drowsily back to sleep, he stares at me instead! Finally I get him back to sleep, just in time to get the others ready for school!!!
By this stage it is abundantly apparent to me that "grumpy Mummy" is in residence today. It is the little things that are bothering me. It is that feeling that you want a little cave to crawl into for the day and eliminate any human interaction for the safety of all individuals in the vacinity! But no such luck with 5 children relying upon you. We manage to get through the morning rush, to the point of loading everyone into the car and then disaster.....Ashton doesnt have his "dummy" which is usually attached on a chain to his shirt. You see, Lachlan and Ethan decided it would be a good idea to take it off when they put him on his belly to give him crawling practice. Then no doubt the stealthful one with long hair (alias, our little bowerbird) came along and stashed it into a "safe" location. Well I searched for 20 minutes for that thing, to no avail!! Yes I spent that long looking for it as the thought of Ashton without his Dummy on a day where I was sleep deprived was more than this mortal Mummy could bear! We drove to school, with Ashton screaming in the car, while I viewed the road with hostility, dreaming of my escape from Motherhood, but knowing I was trapped. After dropping the boys to school we went directly to the shops and purchased a new "dummy and chain" to restore some sanity to the day. You see, I cheered up and sure enough it got worse!!! Hahahahaha!!!! Praying for a decent nights sleep tonight!!!
On a cute note, I was driving off the other day and Paul was waving to the kids in the car as I left and in the back the cutest little giggles were emerging from Kaitlyn as she waved back at her Daddy and then proclaimed, Daddy likes me!! To which I said "of course he does, he loves you". She burst into the most joyous laughter and said "yes!!!! he does!!!" Oh for a recording of that conversation, it was so adorable.
On that note let me share a layout for this weeks palette on The Color Room. This week we enter the Family room for these warm, rich colours. I am not much for the whole orange and brown combination but I was so happy with how this LO turned out. I think it helped that the brown was more taupe and there was a hint of red in it as well.
This LO is in reference to the fact that it is lucky this little guy is cute!! It helps to be cute when you can drive your mother to distraction with your sleep antics!! Please note, there is not a flower in sight on this LO!!! I mean, seriously, it has been a very long time since I have done a totally flower free LO!! It felt good and reminded me of times gone by when all I did were boy LO's! So glad those days are behind me though!! Hahahahahaha!!! Can you see me rolling around laughing??!!!
While we are talking about little Mr Ashton, here is a layout I created some time back for Aussie Scrap Source Blog to showcase Anna Griffin and her flocked papers.
The pics on this LO were not the sharpest so I kept them small but the one of Ashton smiling is one of the first pics I captured of his smile. I also used a Heidi Swapp corner stamp to create my title / journaling for the page by masking part of the stamp each time.
I head across to Sydney this week to teach at SIA. I am really looking forward to this, as well as the chance for a couple of nights of uninterupted sleep!!! (yes Ashton is going to be spending quality time with Daddy!) So if you are going I would love you to say hi and maybe I will see a couple of you in my class.
Well my camera has remained in its bag this week, so no new pics of the kids, but i hope to take some more again soon! I like to have lots of inspiration!! Once again thanks for stopping by my blog.
