OK, sometimes strange things happen. Lets take today for instance. I am not expecting to have anything more delivered than a box of stuff for Creative Edge which arrived before 9am, so imagine my surprise when a very large box with my name on it is delivered in the afternoon...and....wait for it.....It is from Creative Living Media! At this point I am thinking...What the?? I mean I have all my LO's back from them (besides a box this size would be some SERIOUS overkill for a few LO's!), as far as I know the For Keeps magazine is no longer (unless a new owner has been found for it), so why on earth am I getting this massive box??? Of course I make haste to open it!!! I am naturally a curious person, so this is red rag to a bull material! Would you believe it, it is more of my Elite Team prizes!!! It really does beg the question, did this product take a walk on the wild side for a while and go on a 4 month bender or something?? Hey, not that I am complaining as there were a few seriously good items tucked away in that box! I am left, however, singing that Alanis Morriset song in my head, where it IS perfectly in tune, so long as it doesnt escape my lips!!! All in all, not a bad day!
Speaking of de-commissioned layouts...yes there were a few...I may as well share them here!! I have already shared a couple that were supposed to be for an article on glimmermist, but there are more, and boy LO's to boot!! Yes I do actually do them still from time to time!
I know, these layouts were done a while ago, like the middle of Summer over here and now we are in the dead of winter which is re-inforced by the fact it has rained all day for a couple of days straight, again, and I never seem to be able to get my washing dry!! As you can see, the towel ended up being my colour inspiration! LOL!
The prima felt viola was once black before I attacked it with white gesso (for the record, felt absorbs a LOT of gesso!!) and then recoloured it with the glimmermist! It really is a perfect embellishment for those swimming pages! I also used a heap of old clear page pebbles as water droplets on this. They had been in my stash so long I had to apply new glue to them just to get them to stay stuck on the page!! Here is a closer look...
Since my last post I have been on a cleaning rampage of my scrap area! I wish I could say scrap room but alas it is still primarily my bedroom, but I think I have pretty much taken over half the space with scrapbooking parafenalia! It had got to the point that if Paul tried to get into bed with the lights off he would stumble on boxes, thus putting a negative vibe towards my stuff in the room!! I should have cleaned it up a long time ago, but I would literally walk in there, look around and think, where the heck am I going to put all this stuff, then walk out again, defeated by the mess.
I didn't scrap in there either as it was impossible to sit at my desk for all the clutter both on the desk and around the chair! So where did I start.....on my enormous collection of wood mount stamps!! I had at least 15 drawers filled with wood mount stamps and I needed the space! With determination that outweighed the fear, I began pulling the rubber stamps off the wood and putting them onto acetate ready to be used with my acrylic blocks! I tell you I actually felt a little bit ill doing it to start with, but Lydell had done it to hers and had never looked back, so I figured I would survive! But I did make a frantic phone call to her part way into the process for re-assurance that she was happy with what she had done! I now only have 5 draws of stamps!!! I freed up 10 drawers and allowed myslef to clean up a lot of what was on the floor! There is a large box of wood mounts on my back verandah now, and I felt I had to explain why they were out there to my DH just in case he thought I had wasted all the money spent on the previously mentioned stamps and was just throwing them away! But now my space is usuable to scrap in once more! I have even done 2 LO's on my desk! YAY!
Totally unrelated to scrapbooking....my little girl has said an unsolicited "I wuv voo" to me this past week!!! I get the solicited ones at night time regularly now, in that special moment when I am holding her and chatting to her before I put her down for sleep and I tell her how much I love her, she parrots it back at me! But this was different, it wasnt bed time, we were just having a daytime cuddle and she looked me right in the eye and said "I wuv voo". NOTHING can fill a mothers heart more than that! She loves me, appreciates me, trusts me, knows that this is her place in the world and for this, everything else is all worthwhile!!
On that gushy note I will leave it! TFL!!
